Triple H Makes First Comments On CM Punk’s WWE Return

Triple H was the first person to speak at the post-show press conference and he spoke about how successful the event was. He said that over 34,000 tickets were sold between SmackDown and Survivor Series at the Allstate Arena.

The Game said he wanted to talk about the big return and he joked about how they were able to keep R-Truth’s return a surprise. He then went on to address Randy Orton’s return while calling The Viper “incredible.” Triple H then pivoted and talked about the other matches for a while.

Finally he opened it up to questions and he was asked about CM Punk’s return, how it came together, and what’s next for CM Punk. Triple H said it was a lightning in a bottle moment that came together quickly, but they’re excited about it. He said that whether people love or hate CM Punk people talk about him.

“People talk about him, all the time. He is a magnet for that. He is a conversation starter, and it’s tough to look past that. For me, if our fans want it, if the WWE Universe is excited to have it then let’s go, and we’ll figure out the rest of it from there. This came together super quick. Which, I’m sure is why it stayed very tight. There was a lot of speculation. At that point it was nothing but speculation. It didn’t really come to fruition until everybody stopped thinking it was happening, and then all of a sudden it was happening, but extremely excited.

A lot of time has gone by. Almost 10 years, right? If you’re the same person you were 10 years ago, 10 years later – you’ve messed up. Everybody grows. Everybody changes. I’m a different person. He’s a different person. This is a different company. We’re all on the same even starting ground. So, what’s next for CM Punk? That will be interesting, won’t it? I’m interested to see for myself. I’m thrilled. We’re all thrilled to have him back here.”

Triple H was asked if this was something TKO pushed for and he said very few people knew about it beyond him and Nick Khan. The Game said there has been zero push from TKO and they’re trusted to do their thing. He indicated that some people from TKO likely found out about CM Punk’s return as they were watching the show and that they would probably see it as a good thing for the company.
