There were a few promos on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw that got a lot of people talking and one of them was JBL’s backstage segment with Baron Corbin. JBL returned to TV a few months ago to work as Baron Corbin’s manager, but their alliance came to a swift end after Corbin was defeated by Dexter Lumis earlier this week. During the backstage segment JBL told Corbin that he’s “channel changing television” then followed up by saying he, “can’t polish a turd.”
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE has given up on Baron Corbin’s push. That wasn’t the original plan, but Triple H felt that it wasn’t working.
At this point in time it’s not known where Baron Corbin will go from here as he’s had so many gimmick changes. It was noted that Baron Corbin has not reached the level of a top star, but WWE wanted him to be at that level, and they gave him every chance to get there.
One way or another no matter where Baron Corbin goes from here it doesn’t seem that JBL will be involved as it was recently reported that the Hall of Famer is not expected to make regular appearances on WWE programming moving forward. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
