Last year Triple H took over WWE creative and it was reported that some wrestlers were getting a little more freedom when it comes to their promos. Triple H also did away with the Max Dupri gimmick and brought LA Knight back to WWE programming.
LA Knight’s promos have been getting a lot of attention over the last few months, and during a recent appearance on The Daily Show the WWE star talked a little bit about what it’s like to have freedom on the mic.
“One of the big things I can remember saying at least a good 60 to 70% of the time before I walked through the curtain is I don’t know what I’m about to say when I go out there, but we’re about to find out and it’s because I have a roadmap. I know where I’m going. I know how I’m going to start, I know how I’m going to finish, but in the middle, we’re going to weave a road and we’re going to figure out where we go, and hopefully, it gets us where we need to go.”
“Usually, it does. WWE is slightly more structured but at the same time, it’s like I do have the freedom to again, where it’s like, I know where I’m going, maybe there’s a key point or two but otherwise, hey, we’ll see what we get when I come back.”
As of this writing LA Knight does not have a match scheduled for WrestleMania, but it’s rumored that WWE could fit him into the show somehow. Stay tuned for updates.
