Triple H Comments On National Anthem Protests In The NFL

Protests in the NFL are a very hot topic right now. Colin Kaepernick pioneered the protests by taking a knee during the national anthem last year, and now many other NFL players are following in his footsteps.

Protests in the NFL have really picked up over the past few weeks after WWE Hall of Famer and current President of the United States Donald Trump called for NFL owners to fire players who take a knee during the national anthem.

Some fans have been wondering how WWE officials would react if the Superstars on Raw or SmackDown Live took a knee in protest, and during a recent interview Triple H said that the company would respect everybody’s right to free speech.

“I speak for myself, personally only, and if it was me I would stand for my national anthem. For my country I would stand,” Triple H told Sky Sports. “But I and WWE certainly respect the rights of everybody’s first amendment right of freedom of speech, their right to peacefully protest and do what is meaningful to them. Certainly we support that.”

“I question whether there would be a better way to do that, that maybe wouldn’t offend others or something else. Surely we respect that line.”

So far no WWE Superstars have exercised their right to protest, but according to Triple H they are free to do so.
