You never know when you might see a talent from NXT get called up to the main roster, and fans have seen some memorable call ups over the years. Back in 2011 Summer Rae signed with WWE, and after working through developmental for a few years she was called up to the main roster in 2013.
Summer Rae was paired with Fandango, and during an episode of The Sessions with Renee Paquette the former WWE star explained that she was called up because of the reactions she was getting on Twitter. She also noted that Triple H wanted her to help Fandango win matches the same way that Chyna helped him when they were working together on TV.
“I remember Hunter being like, ‘Well, you’re here because Twitter threw a fit and they wanted you to be here.’ And I understand why they didn’t want me with him [Fandango], because he is the main attraction in that pairing at the time… Hunter was like, ‘It’s very much like Chyna with me.’”
Summer Rae parted ways with WWE back in 2017, but it was recently announced that she will be competing in the women’s Royal Rumble match this year. The Royal Rumble will air live on Saturday, January 29th. Stay tuned for updates.
