We’re at a point in WrestleMania season where every show counts as each episode of Raw and SmackDown is building up the card for WrestleMania 39 more and more. Last week on SmackDown, Drew McIntyre competed in a fatal five way to determine who will challenge Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania, but it sounds like McIntyre was almost pulled from the show completely.
PWInsider Elite is reporting that Drew McIntyre was at risk of being pulled from the fatal five way match because he was sick throughout the week. McIntyre was examined by the medical team when he arrived at the building for SmackDown and it was determined that he would be able to compete that night.
Even though McIntyre was able to compete in the match things didn’t exactly go his way as the match ended in controversy. McIntyre and Sheamus both scored a pin at the same time which led to an inconclusive finish. They will face off in a one on one match this week on Friday Night SmackDown to determine who will face Gunther at WrestleMania?
Stay tuned for more updates on the WrestleMania card as they become available.
