On Saturday night WWE shocked the world when they brought CM Punk back at Survivor Series, but it seems that some people are less than thrilled about CM Punk’s return.
Fightful Select reports that minutes before CM Punk returned a section of the backstage area was cleared out, but Punk was in plain sight. Producers, referees, staff, talent and head writers on the creative team were not told about the return.
It’s being said that numerous talent on the roster are upset following the return while some are also said to be excited and curious. Talent were pulled aside before the War Games match in the main event and told about the return.
It was claimed that at least one talent was upset about the return of CM Punk and both Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre were visibly angry. It hasn’t been confirmed whether or not the reactions were genuine, but they were claimed to be.
Video footage of Seth Rollins being restrained by Michael Cole and Corey Graves after the main event has been making the rounds on social media. It’s being reported that Seth Rollins was in gorilla and had to be ushered away by Triple H and Michael Cole because he was looking for CM Punk. The word is that CM Punk looked confused and it was an awkward scene.
Drew McIntyre was visibly upset, left the venue, slammed the locker room door and cursed as he left. When people checked on him McIntyre confirmed he was upset about CM Punk’s return, and that it wasn’t part of a work. However, it was noted that even though it hasn’t been confirmed due to the nature of wrestling the reactions could be a work.
One top talent noted that the understood the surprise aspect of Punk’s return, but also felt that Triple H could lose some of the trust he’s worked to build. Not all of the reactions were negative as some people filmed content for social media and some of Punk’s old friends greeted him backstage upon his return.
