After All Elite Wrestling was officially announced in January of 2019, WWE went on a bit of a signing spree as they tried to lock their talents into multi-year deals.
AEW officials have been trying to make the most of their opportunities when a valuable free agent is on the market, and recently Rey Mysterio was working with WWE without a contraxct.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that while Rey was a free agent AEW made him a huge offer, which he turned down.
It’s being said that WWE officials were aware of the offer. Rey was working without a contract, but he told WWE he wouldn’t go to AEW, despite the fact that legally he could have.
It was reported that last month Rey Mysterio signed a new contract which is believed to be for three years.
Rey Mysterio has been a big part of the Monday Night Raw brand over the last few months thanks to the feud involving him, his son, and Seth Rollins.
It doesn’t look like Rey plans on going anywhere, so judging from the way he and his family have been booked lately it’s probably safe to say we’ll be seeing a lot of Rey and Dominik Mysterio on WWE programming moving forward.
