SummerSlam is quickly approaching and it’s safe to say that WWE will be looking to put on one of their biggest shows of the year. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn know what it’s like to perform on a big stage as they main evented WrestleMania a few months ago, but it doesn’t sound like fans should expect to see the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions defend their titles at SummerSlam.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles won’t be defended at SummerSlam because WWE is giving Kevin Owens time off due to his broken rib. The word is that Kevin Owens has been working through the injury for a while now.
There’s currently no word on when Kevin Owens will be back in action, but it seems that he won’t be ready to return to the ring by the time SummerSlam rolls around. SummerSlam will air live from Ford Field in Detroit, MI on Saturday, August 5 and the current card can be seen below.
