WWE really put the focus on storylines in 2024 and in recent months Kevin Owens has become one of the key figures on SmackDown. Owens turned on Cody Rhodes after Bad Blood, and a few weeks ago he sidelined Randy Orton after hitting him with a banned piledriver.
On the most recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Cody Rhodes called Kevin Owens out into the arena and they got into a heated exchange. Owens passionately explained why he turned on Cody as he recalled how he fought The Bloodline for years only to watch Cody team up with Roman Reigns at Bad Blood.
Fightful Select is reporting that Kevin Owens’ performance during his promo on Friday Night SmackDown last week gained a lot of buzz among those they talked to in the company.
At this point the match hasn’t been officially confirmed, but it’s expected that Cody Rhodes will be defending his Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens at Saturday Night’s Main Event next month.
