WWE obviously wants to lock down their top stars, but it’s been reported that former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre could be on his way out of the company. Fightful Select reports that Drew’s deal is up in early 2024 well before WrestleMania. McIntyre was operating on the possibility that WrestleMania 39 could be his last WrestleMania.
It’s been reported that Drew McIntyre is leaning toward not staying with WWE, but it’s being said that it’s more of a situation where he doesn’t know. Drew is open to exploring other options if things aren’t working out by the time his deal is up, and leave the door open for a WWE return in the future.
The Scottish Warrior had been working banged up and had a few injuries that needed to be taken care of, but he was adamant about getting through WrestleMania and working his match with Sheamus and Gunther.
There was said to have been frustration and several situations where Drew and WWE were not on the same page. McIntyre was left out of the loop when it came to WWE moving him to Raw in the draft and he is usually told about plans ahead of time. Over the last few years there have been several perceived miscommunications between Drew and WWE.
It’s being said that Drew is very hands on when it comes to his character. There have been pitches for him to turn heel, but those involved expect him to push back and make sure that it makes sense from a creative standpoint, as he’s been adamant about not making big changes unless they make sense.
Many talent aren’t sure how WWE’s new deal with Endeavor will affect them, and in recent years WWE has had a different approach to contract renewals.
