This week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown featured some interesting moments such as the return of Shinsuke Nakamura, but one star who wasn’t featured on the show was Drew McIntyre. This marks two weeks in a row that Drew was absent as it was reported that McIntyre was originally scheduled for the SmackDown after WrestleMania before he was pulled due to a health issue.
Drew McIntyre also got the wrestling world talking when he blacked out his Twitter profile and removed all references to WWE. PWInsider is reporting that McIntyre actually did a lot of interviews this week to promote the SmackDown taping in Nebraska. Due to the interviews that Drew did there’s speculation that he was originally at one point set to be part of the SmackDown taping this week.
The Scottish Warrior last appeared on WWE programming during night 2 of WrestleMania 39 when he faced off against Gunther and Sheamus in a triple threat match for the Intercontinental Championship. There’s currently no word on when he could be returning to TV.
It was recently reported that Drew’s contract with WWE is set to expire this year and he has not agreed to a new deal because the two sides are said to be far apart on money. Stay tuned for more updates on Drew McIntyre’s status as they become available.
