WrestleMania season is over and now fans are waiting to see where WWE will go from here and tonight SmackDown will presumably set the stage for whatever comes next. Drew McIntyre was in action at WrestleMania 39, but it doesn’t look like the former WWE Champion is expected to appear on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
PWInsider Elite is reporting that Drew McIntyre has been pulled from tonight’s episode of SmackDown in Portland, OR. It was noted that McIntyre was originally supposed to appear on SmackDown tonight, but he has been removed from plans for the TV tapings.
The Scottish Warrior was also set to be part of an autograph signing today at a local Cricket Wireless. However, McIntyre was replaced by current Intercontinental Champion Gunther at the signing. It’s not clear at this point in time why Drew McIntyre was pulled from SmackDown tonight.
At WrestleMania 39, Gunther defended the Intercontinental Championship against Drew McIntyre and Sheamus in a triple threat match that took place during night 2 of the big event. Gunther managed to retain the gold and tonight on SmackDown he will team with the rest of Imperium to take on The Brawling Brutes in a six man tag team match. Stay tuned for updates.
