Some big moves have been made so far in 2024, and it’s no big secret that WWE has been trying to lock down their top stars. Gunther has established himself as a force to be reckoned with, so it comes as no surprise that WWE wants to keep him on the roster.
PWInsider is reporting that Gunther is closing in on a new deal with WWE. It’s being said that Gunther is either at the end of discussions, or has just signed a new multi-year deal with WWE.
The current WWE World Heavyweight Champion originally debuted with WWE back in 2019 as part of the NXT UK brand. He was eventually transferred to the NXT brand and then called up to the main roster in 2022. A few months after he joined the main roster Gunther defeated Ricochet to win the Intercontinental Championship, and he went on to become the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time.
Over the weekend Gunther successfully defended his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Damian Priest at Survivor Series after Finn Balor interfered. It was recently confirmed that Balor will be challenging Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event later this month.
Stay tuned for updates.
