For months now WWE has been trying to keep the brands separate, but recently the brand to brand invitational was announced.
It was also recently announced that WWE stripped Sami Zayn of the Intercontinental Championship, and Monday Night Raw star AJ Styles ended up competing in the tournament to crown a new champion.
This week on Friday Night SmackDown AJ Styles faced off against Shinsuke Nakamura in the tournament, and it was announced that Styles has been traded to SmackDown.
Styles ended up advancing in the tournament when he picked up a big win over Shinsuke Nakamura.
