The AEW World Championship was first introduced in 2019 and since then eight AEW World Champions have been crowned. This weekend Swerve Strickland will be defending his AEW World Championship against Bryan Danielson at All In, and Bryan has stated that he will never wrestle again if he doesn’t win the belt.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that there’s been talk of Darby Allin getting an AEW World Title run regardless of who wins at All In. The possibility of Darby Allin winning the belt has been seriously discussed, but it’s not clear when it might happen.
There’s been a lot of speculation regarding Bryan Danielson winning the title at All In because of the title vs. career stipulation. The expectation is that if Bryan does win the AEW World Championship he won’t be getting a long title run as needs neck surgery and he’s winding down his career.
Currently Darby Allin is set to challenge for the AEW World Championship at Grand Slam on September 25th, so it will be interesting to see how things play out in the weeks to come.
Stay tuned for updates.
