Business is about to pick up for the stars of the WWE, as the Royal Rumble is only a few weeks away and we’re getting closer and closer to WrestleMania. As WrestleMania approaches, WWE creative will start to bust out the big storylines, and it seems that some seeds are already being planted for some big angles that could play out at the Show of Shows.
Over the past few months we’ve seen Shane McMahon feud with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, and his feud with Owens and Zayn has caused problems between himself and General Manager Daniel Bryan.
The tension between McMahon and Bryan has been building for quite some time, and it came to a head on the most recent episode of SmackDown Live.
After Shane McMahon got physical with Kevin Owens at ringside during the main event, Bryan announced that AJ Styles will defend his WWE Championship against Owens and Zayn in a handicap match at the Royal Rumble.
There’s been speculation that this feud could be used to turn Shane McMahon heel, but it doesn’t seem that a Daniel Bryan heel turn is out of the question.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter speculates that WWE officials may end up turning Daniel Bryan as a way to hurt his value to a degree if he ends up leaving the company.
Bryan hasn’t been shy about letting the world know he is considering returning to the ring when his WWE contract is up, and that he’s not afraid to work elsewhere if WWE won’t clear him.
The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion also recently said that he assumes if he’s not cleared to return to the ring by WrestleMania then WWE officials won’t be clearing him.
