One of the most anticipated matches on the card was without a doubt the ladder match for the NXT Tag Team Titles which featured Team DIY challenging the Authors of Pain for the belts. As soon as the match started it was very clear that the Chicago fans were firmly behind Team DIY and they wanted to see them walk out of the event with the gold in their hands.
Unfortunately for fans of Team DIY, they didn’t walk out with the belts, as the Authors of Pain retained. Both teams pulled out all the stops for the ladder match, and there were some brutal spots.
At one point both members of Team DIY climbed to the top of the ladder and grabbed the belts. It looked like they had it won, but Authors of Pain knocked the ladder over then pulled them down. They followed up with the Super Collider then grabbed the belts for the win.
After the match Team DIY received a standing ovation from the crowd, and just as it looked like the show was about to go off the air, Tommaso Ciampa turned on Johnny Gargano.
Ciampa beat down Gargano for several minutes as the crowd chanted “f*** you Ciampa” then he took him to the announce table. Ciampa picked Gargano up then slammed him off the table and the stage into some crates on the ground below as the show ended.
