This week’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown took place from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT and it featured a face to face confrontation between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, as well as a SmackDown Tag Team Title match for the main event.
Tommaso Ciampa also faced off against Pete Dunne in a dark match prior to SmackDown, and it was Ciampa who managed to pick up the win on Friday night.
It’s certainly not uncommon for NXT stars to work dark matches so that WWE officials can evaluate them, but it’s not clear at this point in time if the company has any plans to call Ciampa or Dunne up to the main roster.
Tommaso Ciampa recently dropped the NXT Championship to Bron Breakker at NXT New Year’s Evil recently, so one way or another it will be interesting to see where the former champion goes from here. Stay tuned for updates.
