There is a lot on the line when it comes to the Men’s Royal Rumble match. After all, the winner of the big event gets a title shot at WrestleMania.
With 30 men in the match and so many hungry competitors trying to scratch and claw their way to the top, there are a few options WWE could go with at this point.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter says it is still possible for Roman Reigns to go on and main event WrestleMania 34 even if he doesn’t win the big match in Philadelphia. It is speculated he could win an Elimination Chamber match to earn his spot in Mania’s top match.
Therefore, the top projected winners of the Royal Rumble match seem to be on the Blue Brand which is interesting seeing how Randy Orton pulled down the win for SmackDown Live last year.
At this time Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton seem most likely to win the big match on the 28th in Philly with Baron Corbin also in the running but he’s said to be a longshot.
Of course, with speculation being what it is as well as WWE’s tendency to change booking plans, it could be anyone’s guess who will walk out of Philly as the 2018 Men’s Royal Rumble match winner.
Since Orton won the Royal Rumble last year, he could very well do it again. But the dream rematch from Wrestle Kingdom 10 between Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles looks even more possible to finally go down in a WWE ring.
Both Nakamura and Orton have hinted pretty heavily that they will win the match, but the overall fan favorite is still Nakamura. After all, the WWE Universe got a small tease of AJ vs Nakamura at Money In The Bank which would be cruel if WWE never books that match.
It was said John Cena isn’t in consideration to win the match because his WrestleMania dance partner has been chosen. Whoever is picked for Cena is said to be a huge name and there are some amazing options but The Undertaker is said to be pretty much a lock at this point.
