Top AEW Star Takes A Shot At WWE’s Developmental System

WWE has gone through some major changes this year as the company has released a number of talents, and the NXT brand was also relaunched as NXT 2.0.

It was recently reported that moving forward WWE is looking to focus on younger, bigger talents who are naturally athletic, and the new directive is to bring in women who are 25 or younger.

During a recent interview with the Washington Post current AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker referenced WWE’s approach to developmental, and she made it clear that she disagrees with the company’s methods.

“I don’t think putting a bunch of models and athletes off the street in a warehouse and teaching them all to do the same thing the same way at the same time is going to create a successful roster,” said Baker, 30, who is also a dentist. “People learn differently and they have different strengths and weaknesses, and sometimes you have to find out what those are on your own.”

During a recent appearance on Throwing Down with Renee & Miesha a few weeks ago Britt Baker also confirmed that while Adam Cole was still with WWE the company was poking the bear a little bit through him” while she was still signed with All Elite Wrestling.

“Without teetering the line of contract tampering. They definitely let me know that they had interest in me, but it wasn’t a mutual thing.”

Britt Baker will defend the AEW Women’s Championship against Tay Conti at the Full Gear pay-per-view on November 13. Stay tuned for updates.
