Over the last few months there’s been a lot of talk about contracts in the world of professional wrestling, and it looks like one of the top stars in AEW is currently working without one.
Fightful Select is now reporting that Cody Rhodes’ contract with AEW expired at the end of 2021, and since then he has been working without a contract which technically makes him a free agent.
At this point it’s not clear when Rhodes might sign a new contract, but he did mention during an interview with Sports Illustrated last month that his future is with All Elite Wrestling.
“As of now, my future is with AEW. AEW would be very strange without the core members of the revolution. We (the EVP’s) all still talk. We all have this admiration for each other. I can’t see myself anywhere else, and I’m very optimistic about what the future holds.”
Cody Rhodes has been off TV for a few weeks now due to a COVID-19 related issue involving his family, but he is currently set to return during this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Stay tuned for more updates on Cody’s status as they become available.
