On Sunday night AEW crossed over with New Japan Pro Wrestling at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view and fans got to see some interesting matches.
Jay White successfully defended his IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Adam Cole, Adam Page and Kazuchicka Okada. White won the match by pinning Adam Cole, but the finish was awkward which left many people to wonder about Cole’s condition.
Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer noted on Twitter that it’s believed Adam Cole suffered a concussion during the IWGP Heavyweight Championship match.
After Forbidden Door Tony Khan commented on Adam Cole’s status during the post-show media scrum and he noted that Cole is going to be ok long term.
“Yeah, I think Adam Cole will be okay. He was in the match. It was a very physical wrestling match and he was pinned in the match. The timing of it wasn’t [right]. He’s gonna be okay long term, but probably if he couldn’t continue wrestling it made sense [to end the match].”
