Shane McMahon made his big return to WWE at the Royal Rumble premium live event last month, and following the show it was reported that he had significant backstage heat due to the work he did as a producer for the men’s Royal Rumble match.
It was also reported that Shane McMahon was quietly let go after the Royal Rumble, and as soon as news of his WWE departure broke it got people talking about whether or not Shane could join AEW.
AEW President Tony Khan recently spoke to Sports Illustrated about Shane possibly joining AEW, and he confirmed that he has not heard from Shane McMahon.
“I’d certainly take the call. I’m sure he’d be an interesting person to talk to about wrestling. I’m not sure exactly if he would be a fit. I have not heard from him, and I don’t expect to hear from him, but in this business, you never know.”
