AEW has recruited some of the biggest names in the business over the last few years, but the company has also been pushing their homegrown stars as well.
Wardlow has been one of the standout talents in AEW for some time now, and earlier this year he captured his first title with the company when he became TNT Champion. Tony Khan recently talked about Wardlow’s future on the AEW Unrestricted podcast and he stated that he thinks Wardlow could be the future of wrestling.
“I believe Wardlow probably, in many ways, has a good a chance to be the future of pro wrestling as anybody. He’s someone we really see as a star for the future here, and is a homegrown star.”
Wardlow defended his TNT Championship against Samoa Joe and Powerhouse Hobbs in a triple threat match at Full Gear, but unfortunately for Wardlow it was Joe who managed to pick up the win and walk out with the belt. One way or another it will be interesting to see where Wardlow goes from here.
