CM Punk made his big return to professional wrestling when he joined AEW in August of 2021, but his run with the company officially came to an end in September of this year. Following a backstage incident that took place at the All In pay-per-view Tony Khan announced that Punk’s contract with the company had been terminated.
On Saturday night CM Punk made a surprise appearance at WWE Survivor Series and Tony Khan was asked about CM Punk’s WWE return during a recent interview with BBC Midlands.
“Can’t talk about that nor do I think it’s the time or the place. But I appreciate you asking and I am really excited about AEW All In at Wembley Stadium. Not to dodge or duck your question, it’s just not something I can legally talk about.”
Following the backstage incident at All In, Tony Khan said that he feared for his life and felt that he had no other choice but to fire CM Punk as the incident endangered people backstage.
One way or another CM Punk will be appearing on Monday Night Raw tonight, so it will be interesting to see what the former AEW World Champion has to say.
Stay tuned for updates.
