Alberto Del Rio parted ways with WWE last year, but he certainly hasn’t stepped away from the spotlight. Alberto has made plenty of headlines over the past few months thanks to his engagement to Paige and a few incidents that took place outside the ring.
The former WWE World Champion has been working the independent scene, but he’s indicated that his in-ring career is winding down. Despite the fact that he’s in the twilight of his career, it’s still been reported several times that TNA is interested in bringing him in to the company, and Del Rio has said it’s a possibility if the money is right.
Well, it doesn’t look like it’s a possibility anymore as PWInsider is reporting that the push to sign Alberto Del Rio is done. Apparently John Gaburick was the one who wanted to sign Alberto and he was reportedly set to appear at the last set of tapings, but the decision was made to hold him off.
The company had been talking with Alberto on and off over the last few months, but now that John Gaburick is working in production the talks have died down.
The creative team going forward will be led by Jeff Jarrett and he will oversee a booking committee that consists of Dutch Mantel, Scott D’Amore, Abyss, Jeremy Borash and Rockstar Spud.
It’s been rumored for weeks now that Dutch Mantel would be joining the company. The former Zeb Colter officially confirmed his status earlier this week when he posted the following:
