Did TNA Change Their Name Again? Pete Dunne Picks Up Another Title

TNA has experienced a few facelifts through the years. First, they were given the almost-obscene name TNA which according to Jim Cornette was a brainchild of Vince Russo’s because he wanted people to think they were edgy and full of T&A.

The company eventually transitioned into Impact Wrestling and hosted some WONDERFUL Broken Matt Hardy action. Then they kept the gimmick when The Hardys went home. That was not so wonderful.

Impact Wrestling would soon be sold to Anthem Sports which not only meant Dixie Carter and her daddy’s Panda Energy money would be going away but a new regime was brought in.

They brought back a lot of names from the past creative days of TNA most notably Jeff Jarrett. J-E Double F, J-A Double R-E Double T merged his Global Force Wrestling with Impact Wrestling to bring both of his pro wrestling company babies together.

But due to personal reasons, Double J had to step down from his duties. But Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the deal between Impact and GFW to merge the two companies wasn’t finalized.

Therefore it appears as though GFW might have gone back to the Impact Wrestling name. They were running ads for GFW’s Bound For Glory for weeks and suddenly the logo has changed to Impact! Thanks to IWS announcer/commentator/social media savant Brian The Guppie for bringing this to our attention.

It’s certainly an interesting observation. Changes might not be over for TNA/Impact Wrestling/GFW/The Broken Matt Bandits/FKA Dixie Carter Land.

To compare, this is what the logo used to look like:

Pete Dunne is not only the WWE United Kingdom Champion, but he also still wrestles around the world. After all, WWE doesn’t seem to be using him for his incredible talents but there’s plenty of demand for the Bruiserweight’s services.

It looks like Pete Dunne picked up yet another title belt to add to his collection. Dunne defeated Soner Dursun on Sunday night to become the new Future Shock Adrenaline Champion.

Dunne’s Bitter End really is a wicked finisher. It would be nice to see it on WWE television more often.
