Anything can happen in the world of professional wrestling, and this week’s episode of NXT proved just that as Thea Hail managed to defeat Blake Monroe to become the new NXT Women’s North American Champion.
The finish to the match was awkward as Thea Hail landed on Blake Monroe and it looked like Blake was trying to get her shoulder up, but the referee counted the pinfall. Following the match there was a long pause before the bell rang, and Blake Monroe’s music was briefly played as Thea was declared the winner.
It’s been reported that the title change was unplanned, and that Blake Monroe struggled to get her shoulder up because she got the wind knocked out of her when Thea Hail landed on her back first.
One way or another Thea Hail is the new NXT Women’s North American Champion, and she seems pretty excited about it. After she won the belt Thea Hail took to social media to post a simple tweet which said, “I F**CKING DID IT.”

Even though the title change was unplanned it certainly got the wrestling world talking as there seem to be a lot of people who are happy for Thea Hail. WWE is expected to make adjustments to creative plans following the match, so it will be interesting to see where things go from here.
