Daniel Bryan’s rise to the top of WWE was an exciting ride full of ups and downs, but the journey hit its lowest of lows when Daniel Bryan was forced to retire from in-ring competition in February of 2016.
It’s been a long two years for Daniel Bryan, but he never gave up on his dream of returning to the ring. Bryan has openly spoke about how he’s spent his free time undergoing tests and evaluations that could lead to his in-ring return, and it looks like all of his hard work has paid off.
WWE announced today that Daniel Bryan has been cleared not only by by leading neurosurgeons, neurologists and concussion experts, including Dr. Robert Cantu, Dr. Javier Cárdenas and Dr. Jeffrey Kutcher, but also by WWE’s Medical Director, Dr. Joseph Maroon.
Today is a day that many fans hoped for, but also believed would never come. But alas, it’s here.
Daniel Bryan is still the current General Manager of SmackDown Live, and following Shane McMahon’s leave of absence, the only authority figure on the blue brand. He’s set to return on tonight’s show, and now that he’s been cleared for in-ring competition, it should be interesting to see how things play out on SmackDown.
How often Daniel Bryan will be wrestling is unknown at this point, but there are many potential dream matches on the table for him, and the wrestling world is clearly happy to have him back.
