It’s been an eventful decade for CM Punk as he parted ways with WWE in 2014 and later that year he went on to announce that he would be making the jump to MMA as he signed a deal with UFC.vUnfortunately for CM Punk his UFC run didn’t go very far as he was defeated by Mickey Gall and then lost be decision to Mike Jackson in his second fight which was later ruled a no contest.
Recently The Undertaker spoke to Demetrious Johnson on the MightyCast and the WWE Hall of Famer shared his honest opinion on CM Punk’s attempt at MMA.
“One thing with Punk that I do respect is the fact that he tried it. He had a huge name in wrestling before he tried mixed martial arts. He had a lot to lose because [wrestling] was his money maker and then you go over [to MMA] and get your a** handed to you.
I had a lot of respect for him and the fact that he gave it a shot. It was something he wanted to do. He did it. It didn’t work out and he’s back where he should be and everything is right in the world.”
CM Punk has been out of action since January, but it’s been confirmed that he will be returning to the ring at SummerSlam on Saturday, August 3 when he faces off against Drew McIntyre.
