The last few weeks have been a rollercoaster for WWE fans as Cody Rhodes won the Royal Rumble then confronted Roman Reigns on the following episode of SmackDown. Fans naturally thought that Cody would be challenging Roman Reigns to a WrestleMania match, but instead Cody shocked the world when he told Roman he wouldn’t be coming for him at WrestleMania before introducing The Rock.
The wrestling world had a lot of opinions when it came to Cody giving up his WrestleMania match and The Undertaker recently admitted on his Six Feet Under podcast that he’s heart sank when he watched Cody’s promo.
“I wanted to hear Cody’s promo. It was great. It was so good and I was so invested. When he said, ‘… just not at WrestleMania,’ my freaking heart sunk into my stomach because I knew at that moment what was about to happen,” he said. “Believe me, money-wise, having The Rock at WrestleMania, brother, come on, against Roman who has been Champion for what, 13 years now? Samoan versus Samoan. It’s huge and it is what it is.”
The Undertaker went on to say that he had been in a similar situation before when he added, “Knowing and being in that situation a couple of times myself during my career, for Cody to go out and to deliver the promo that he delivered last night, I felt for him. I felt that not in my stomach because, like I said, I had been there before and he did it like a champ. He did it so professionally.”
WWE has since changed course as Cody Rhodes declared during the WrestleMania 40 press conference last week that he will indeed be challenging Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
