WrestleMania season was action packed this year as The Rock returned in a big way. The Great One became The Final Boss and he set his sights on Cody Rhodes as he targeted him before pinning The American Nightmare in a tag team match during the night one main event of WrestleMania 40. Cody Rhodes then went on to defeat Roman Reigns and capture the Undisputed WWE Championship in the night two main event.
During the Raw after WrestleMania, The Rock said his goodbyes, but also teased a potential match with Cody Rhodes. There’s currently no word on when The Final Boss will be back, but he recently hinted during an interview with ESPN that he has big plans for WrestleMania 41.
“We’re on the 1-yard line to create the biggest WrestleMania of all time and the biggest match of all time at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. I’ll just leave it at that, Final Boss style.”
WWE President Nick Khan also commented on The Rock’s return and potential future when he said, “We believed fan expectations for his return would be extremely high. What Rock was able to accomplish blew through those high expectations. … I’m certain Rock was already penciling out the next mountain to build with WWE should he have come out of WrestleMania 40 healthy, which, fortunately he did.”
