Sunday night at Money in the Bank it was Baron Corbin who climbed the ladder and lifted the briefcase to guarantee a shot at the WWE Championship at some point in the next year.
Sportskeeda is reporting that the current plan is for Corbin to be a top star on the SmackDown Live roster by the end of 2017, which means that Corbin will either still be in possession of his case by the end of the year, or he will have cashed in and become WWE Champion for the first time.
Corbin was the predictable winner for a number of weeks, but it seems that former WWE star and current SmackDown Live Creative Head Brian James aka Road Dogg has been high on Baron Corbin for a number of months but he had to convince the rest of the creative team that The Lone Wolf was the best option for the case this year.
It seems that WWE and Vince McMahon have been high on Corbin ever since his main roster debut when he won the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royale at WrestleMania 32, but over the past year, it seems that WWE has been trying to decide the best way to push Corbin into the main event picture.
SmackDown Live is the land of opportunity and it seems that Baron Corbin is set to take full advantage of that.
