The Miz is one of two people in history to successfully cash in the Money in the Bank contract twice, and his second cash in took place at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view last Sunday.
After cashing in he defeated Drew McIntyre to become the WWE Champion, and Miz told Renee Paquette on Oral Sessions that he didn’t know about the cash in until the afternoon of the show.
“I didn’t… I had no idea! I went in there, and no one was talking to me. Like, all of the creative, I was like, ‘Is anyone going to talk to me?’ And then, I went in and figured out what was going on, and I was like, ‘Ok, this is it.’ You don’t believe it’s going to happen until you hear the 1-2-3.”
The Miz also reflected on his WWE Title win in 2010, and he noted that over the last decade he thinks the fans understand and respect him more now.
“In WWE, I think they get it. They understand what I’m doing and who I am. They don’t like it, but they respect it now. Before in 2010, they didn’t respect me. They didn’t have any respect for me. They didn’t want me there. They didn’t believe I should have had the WWE Championship. Hell, many didn’t think I should have been in the main event at WrestleMania.”
The Miz will defend his WWE Championship against Bobby Lashley on Monday Night Raw next week. Stay tuned for updates.
