Fans haven’t been seeing much of Matt Hardy on Raw as of late, because the former Tag Team Champion has stepped away from in-ring competition to focus on his role as a producer backstage.
Hardy hasn’t been shy about letting the world know his body is in rough shape, and when a fan begged him not to retire during the recent WWE live event, Hardy said, “Unfortunately, I don’t have a choice. This was probably my last match ever.”
It seems that Hardy’s in-ring career is winding down for now. Hardy continued to work events throughout the weekend, but the talk backstage was that Matt was moving like he was hurting.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, retirement is a possibility for Matt, but at this point it’s not official.
His status moving forward depends on how his body reacts to rest and rehab.
