The Hardys have been on a roll over the last few weeks as they recently managed to defeat The Usos to become the new SmackDown Tag Team Champions.
However, their momentum was halted over the weekend when Jeff Hardy suffered an injury during the 4/20 WWE live event in Madison, WI.
The severity of the injury is unknown, but the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that it’s believed Hardy is dealing with a knee injury. He’s had issues with his knee ever since his 2015 dirt bike accident, and he’s been working with a torn PCL for four years now.
Jeff Hardy appeared at the live event the next day in Rochester, MN and he was seen limping, but he did not compete. He didn’t appear at the event in Sioux City on Monday, or at the TV tapings on Tuesday.
The belief among people who need to know for storyline purposes is that Jeff is set to undergo surgery following next week’s episode of SmackDown, which is likely why WWE has been quiet about his injury.
At this point it’s not clear if he’s going to work next week so that WWE can do an injury angle, and/or have The Hardys drop the titles, but Hardy is said to be playing things safe.
It’s unknown whether the surgery will be major or minor.
