CM Punk hasn’t appeared on AEW programming in months, and there’s been a lot of speculation about his status. However, recently there’s been talk of Punk possibly returning to AEW and he has seemingly hinted that he’s interested in returning with his social media posts.
Fightful Select reports that nothing is set in stone, but the wheels are in motion for CM Punk to return to All Elite Wrestling. The report noted that Fightful was told shortly before the announcement was made that the AEW Dynamite from the Chicago at Wintrust Arena on June 21 will be interesting. The working plan is for CM Punk to return at the show, or at the very least some time around it. One idea was pitched to announce his return ahead of time at the Warner Bros. upfronts on May 17.
People who spoke on the subject confirmed that CM Punk is hoping to work with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks. However, there’s no word on if there’s been contact between the two sides, and the talk is that The Young Bucks weren’t keen on the idea of working with him. Punk has reportedly been pushing for a meeting between everyone, but it’s not known if progress has been made.
There was also a meeting planned between Chris Jericho and CM Punk to see if there’s a possibility of the two sides working together. It was noted that as of right now anything can change as nothing is set in stone.
Stay tuned for more updates on CM Punk’s return as they become available.
