The 2017 WWE Hall of Fame class is looking pretty good so far thanks to names like Kurt Angle and the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express and now it’s been confirmed that Teddy Long will be joining the class as well.
Fox Sports broke the news earlier today and they also spoke with Teddy Long who made it a point to thank the McMahon family and the WWE Universe.
“Well, I was really surprised, you know? I had thought about being inducted into the Hall of Fame and I thought ‘well, if they’re going to do that, I’m pretty sure my time will come one day.’ And that’s what did happen. I was real excited, it’s such an honor to be a part of something like this. To go into the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame… man, it’s just great. It don’t get no better than that. I just want to thank Vince McMahon and the McMahon family, and the WWE Universe, and all the people that just hung out with me and wanted some more Teddy Long. I’m just excited right now so I’m kind of lost for words.”
Teddy Long started his career with Jim Crockett Promotions in 1985, and he later moved on to WWE in 1998 where he worked as a referee. Long worked in that position until 2002 as he eventually went on to become a manager for talents such as D’Lo Brown, Mark Henry and Rodney Mack just to name a few.
In 2004 Teddy Long moved into the General Manager role on SmackDown, where he worked for a few years before taking over General Manager duties on ECW. He eventually made his return to SmackDown and he was later replaced and he was released from his WWE contract in 2014. Teddy returned for an appearance in the summer of 2016 to pitch himself for a General Manager role prior to the brand split.
From all of us here at Still Real To Us, congratulations Teddy Long. We’ll be looking forward to your speech on March 31st.
