Events all over the world have been canceled due to the coronavirus, but as of this writing WrestleMania 36 is still set to take place from Tampa, FL on April 5.
Tampa city officials recently met to discuss the virus, and during the meeting they noted that they would “give it another week” in regards to WrestleMania, and now the Hillsborough County Commissioner has made it clear they will step in if Vince McMahon doesn’t act.
“I’m hoping that Vince McMahon and WrestleMania and WWE make the call themselves but a week from now, if they’ve not done that and we’re still in the situation we’re in, we’ll probably have to pull the plug on that,” said Hillsborough County Commissioner Les Miller via Fox 13.
WWE recently issued a statement on WrestleMania which reads as follows:
“While we remain committed to hosting WrestleMania at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, April 5, we are putting contingency plans in place in the event that it is canceled by government officials, civil authorities and/or local venues.”
A decision is expected to be made on WrestleMania 36 within a week.
