There’s never a good time for a WWE Superstar to get suspended, but WWE recently announced that they had suspended two stars for 30 days due to wellness policy violations.
Robert Roode and Primo Colon are currently serving out the remainder of their suspensions, and during an interview with Primera Hora Colon explained what led to the suspension.
According to Primo, WWE contacted him to take a drug test, but he didn’t want to pay to travel to the United States, so he suggested that he go to a WWE approved lab in Puerto Rico but he didn’t hear back from WWE until the company suspended him.
“I wasn’t on the road with WWE, I wasn’t scheduled for any event in the near future. I was in Puerto Rico when they suddenly called me, not to use me, but to get me to travel and go through a drug test. I was ready to do it, but I told them that I was in Puerto Rico and was willing to go to a lab [here in Puerto Rico] of their choosing to do the drug test without problems. I just wasn’t going to pay for a trip that was simply going to be a drug test.”
“From then on, I didn’t hear a response on the matter and I thought they would call me when they found a place for me to go do the test. Two months passed and I get a letter saying that I am suspended, according to them, because I denied wanting to do a drug test. And that’s just not right. They took it as I was out of the country, but not available.”
Primo went on to say that he hasn’t taken any banned substances, and he clarified that he did not refuse to take the drug test. He also added that he plans to appeal the suspension, because he feels his reputation is on the line and he doesn’t want people to perceive him as someone who takes banned substances.
Colon also clarified that he’s under contract with WWE until October of 2020, but he’s not sure if WWE will use him before then. He has been keeping busy by working for his father’s WWC promotion in Puerto Rico.
