One of the most exciting things about being a wrestling fan is watching one of your favorites return to TV, and the Royal Rumble is usually good for at least a few surprise returns. It’s been years since Mr. Kennedy has appeared on WWE programming, but it sounds like there was talk of bringing him back for a Royal Rumble appearance at some point.
The former Money in the Bank winner recently appeared on The Kurt Angle Show and noted that he’s not surprised he hasn’t returned to WWE due to some of the things he said about the company. However, he also added that his name was mentioned for a possible Royal Rumble spot which he turned down at the time because he was out of shape.
“No, I’m not surprised. I said some really sh—- things on the way out the door, and I completely get it. I would like to eventually be able to go back there and finish it out, but I completely understand if that doesn’t happen. I did it to myself.
“I was asked a few years ago, it wasn’t official, but I was asked but Daivari, ‘Hey, your name came up for Royal Rumble. Would you be interested?’ I wasn’t. I was completely out of shape, and I turned it down. But it wasn’t an official ask anyway. I just said, ‘No, I’m not interested.’”
It’s safe to say that there are plenty of fans out there who would love to see Ken Anderson return to WWE as Mr. Kennedy someday. WWE has managed to bury the hatchet with quite a few wrestlers in the past, but whether or not the two sides can come to an agreement on a possible return in the future remains to be seen.
