Sting is in the twilight of his career and many people thought that he was done when he announced his retirement during his WWE Hall of Fame induction speech in 2016. However, Sting has added another chapter to his career with his AEW run, but his run with All Elite Wrestling will be coming to an end sooner than later.
Some fans have wondered if Sting could end up wrestling a big retirement match at All In at Wembley Stadium later this summer, but it doesn’t seem likely at this point. During the Forbidden Door post-show media scrum Sting addressed plans for his retirement match and he confirmed that he hasn’t decided on a solid date yet.
“I have not decided on a date for sure. A lot of people have actually wondered if I was gonna retire in Wembley. That would be kinda cool, but I don’t see that happening. I think I’m gonna continue on. Tony’s kinda been in my ear a little bit here and there, saying, ‘Steve, you can stay as long as you want!’ So I’m not sure how long that’ll be. But like I said a few months ago, ‘Showtime is just about over with,’ and it truly is.”
Sting went on to say that he’s looking forward to returning to London when he added, “But I’m looking forward to going back to London. Last time I was there… I was Joker Sting and the crowd loved it. It was not the big arena, the big stadium. It was just the arena, but still, great great crowd. And I’m looking forward to heading back over there.”
