Back in December the world was shocked when Sting made his AEW debut during the special Winter is Coming edition of Dynamite. The Hall of Famer aligned himself with Darby Allin, and he teamed with Allen to defeat Ricky Starks and Brian Cage in a cinematic match at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view back in March.
On Sunday night Sting teamed up with Darby Allin to face Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky, and it was his first official in-ring match since he was defeated by Seth Rollins at WWE Night of Champions in 2015.
At one point Sting got the hot tag, but referee Aubrey Edwards didn’t see it, so she sent Sting back to the corner. Ethan Page then targeted Darby, and threw him over the top rope into the front row, right into his brother.
Sting finally got the legal hot tag, and Sting cleaned house on both Page and Scorpio Sky. The fans chanted “you still got it” as Sting tagged in Darby Allin, but Scorpio Sky knocked Allin down as he went to the top rope, and Ethan Page slammed him down on Sting in the middle of the ring.
At one point Scorpio Sky and Sting were the legal men with Scorpio Sky on the apron and Sting in the ring. Scorpio Sky went for a cutter over the ropes on Sting, but Sting blocked it and hit the Scorpion Deathdrop on Sky for the win.
After the match Sting and Darby Allin hugged to celebrate.
