After weeks of speculation and rumors, Sting officially retired from in ring competition on Saturday night while giving his speech at the WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Sting was inducted by the two time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair (Woooo!!!) who talked about their iconic rivalry before introducing “The Icon” himself. Sting then spoke about his career from his humble beginnings with the Ultimate Warrior all the way to his final match with Seth Rollins at Night of Champions. When he finally finished his speech he confirmed that his in ring career has indeed come to an end.
“The only thing that’s for sure about Sting is, nothing is for sure, until now. On this very night, at this very moment, I’m going to finish my wrestling career under the WWE umbrella and I’m so proud of that. I am officially, officially going to retire tonight.”
Sting then told the fans that this isn’t goodbye, it’s just see you later. The fans chanted “Thank You Sting!” as he walked around the stage. He then grabbed his sunglasses and his baseball bat and celebrated to end the show.
So there you have it folks, Sting’s in ring career is officially over. It’s unfortunate that we’ll never see him step into the ring again, but luckily he left behind a great legacy and to top it all off, Sting is now a WWE Hall of Famer.
Congratulations to Sting on his WWE Hall of Fame induction!
