Steve Austin has been a busy man lately as he’s working hard to promote the new season of Broken Skull Challenge. Austin was in New York on Wednesday and he caught up with Sam Roberts. He chatted about his shows and also talked a little bit about wrestling.
During his appearance Steve Austin talked about the recent season premiere of Lucha Underground. Austin praised the premiere and encouraged Sam Roberts to watch the show.
“It’s a great alternative, because the way they present what they do, you know it’s a television show so you buy in. They did a clip of Vampiro, he was like coming out of an insane asylum. Matt Striker picks him up in the desert in this big ass Cadillac. I’m watching this, it’s about a 5 or 7 minute vignette and Ian Hodgkinson does a great job in his acting role. I’m thinking ‘S**t, Vampiro just got himself a bad ass action series!’ It was so well done, I was like ‘God damn son he’s already got him a show.’ It was awesome. It’s an interesting product because the presentation of it allows you just to totally buy in because it is what it is.”
Austin also talked a little bit about what goes into making his podcast, his experience working in the 1999 Royal Rumble and more. Before the interview ended Sam asked Austin for his thoughts on AJ Styles’ run in the WWE so far. Austin praised Styles but said he needs to bring a little more fire.
“I’ve seen some of AJ’s work in Japan, the guy is bad ass. I think he’s a little nervous and trepidatious going into the federation. All of a sudden you got these guys, it’s called the land of the giants, you got a lot of big dudes in that territory. He’s gotta have more fire because he’s not the biggest guy in the world. He does some dynamic stuff. He’s a great hand, so I would loud to see that guy make a major run in the territory. But he’s gotta have more fire and he’s gotta do more AJ Styles s**t.”
