Steve Austin shocked the world when he came out of retirement at WrestleMania 38 and ever since then fans have been wondering if The Texas Rattlesnake could step into the squared circle once again. The Rock also recently teased a return to the ring and it was announced earlier this week that The Great One has been appointed to the TKO Board of Directors.

This year WrestleMania will take place from Philadelphia where The Rock and Steve Austin faced off in the main event for WrestleMania 15. During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Steve Austin was asked if he’ll be stepping into the ring for a rematch with The Rock this year, but he indicated that it’s unlikely.

“I think that would be in slow motion. I don’t know about that, but Philly would be a great place for it to happen. I worked with The Rock at WrestleMania XV, and we rocked the house. I pinned his shoulders to the mat, one-two-three. But I don’t know about that happening now.”

Austin did encourage fans to pick up a copy of WWE 2K24 to recreate the match at home when he added, “If you want to recreate it, that’s why WWE 2K24 is so great. We’ll see what happens in Philly. But if you want to see it happen, make it happen in your own house.”

WrestleMania will be celebrating its 40th anniversary this year which has led to speculation that Austin will likely have a role at the event even if he doesn’t compete in a match.
