It’s no secret that there’s a pretty big problem with how women are perceived on the WWE main roster. Many of the women currently wrestling in WWE were literally former models signed by John Laurinaitis based on their good looks alone. That’s not entirely a bad thing, the women are gorgeous but wrestling fans are certainly anxious to see them be something more than just eye candy.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are working hard to change the way women are featured on WWE programming. It’s said that while neither of them are big UFC fans, they are big Ronda Rousey fans. They apparently like the way Rousey has built herself up as a strong woman and created a brand around it.
It seems pretty obvious that Triple H takes women’s wrestling seriously. All you have to do is watch a NXT women’s match then compare it to a WWE Divas match and the difference is often night and day. Despite the fact that Vince McMahon doesn’t seem to be all that interested in changing the current role that women have in WWE, all you have to do is look at NXT to see a bright future lies ahead for women’s wrestling.
