WrestleMania season is almost here and everyone is talking about what the big matches will be at the Show of Shows this year. Recently Sports Illustrated posted a story claiming that WWE was going in a different direction for Mania and that there were no plans for Cody Rhodes to main event or finish his story on the Grandest Stage of Them All. It was claimed that Cody would instead be facing off against CM Punk at Mania.

It was also noted that Gunther was the favorite to win the Royal Rumble setting him up for a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match with Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40.

After the report started making the rounds WrestleVotes reported that nothing is set and stone and WWE was not happy with the report and the way it claimed the information was relayed by “sources close to Triple H.”

Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated has not issued a statement claiming that the spoilers he was given were a “deliberate attempt at misinformation.” The statement reads as follows:

“I reported spoilers for Sports Illustrated yesterday regarding the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 40. I reported what was detailed to me by previously reliable sources. It appears this was a deliberate attempt at misinformation, or misinformation that is being spread through WWE itself.

I apologize for the errors in yesterday’s report. When posting these reports, the entirety of the information needs to accurate.”

Stay tuned for more updates on WrestleMania 40 as they become available.
