It was recently reported that WWE officials were considering using old WCW names for events, and now the report has been confirmed. The Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, NC, announced today that on November 25 WWE will be using the name Starrcade for an event at the venue.
Starrcade is set to take place on a Saturday, and at this time it appears that it is just a live event as no announcements have been made in regards to Starrcade possible airing on the WWE Network.
The official description for the event on the Greensboro Coliseum website reads as follows:
“WWE Live presents Starrcade at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 25 at the Greensboro Coliseum at 1921 W. Gate City Blvd. The event, back for the first time in two decades, features double steel cage match main events.”
“The matches feature Shinsuke Nakamura vs. WWE Champion Jinder Mahal with The Singh Brothers and North Carolina’s Charlotte Flair vs. Smackdown Women’s Champion Natalay. There will also be a United States Championship Triple Threat match between Smackdown Tag Team Champions New Day and The USOS.”
The Hardy Boyz, Ricky Steamboat and the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express are also set to appear.
